Best of Bollywood 2011 - Biggest Music Disappointment
The recognition for Big Music Disappointment of 2011 is given to the Film Soundtrack which failed to live up to the expectations set by the history of the music associated with the Actors, Producers and most importantly the music directors of the film.
#5 Tell Me Oh Kkhuda - Pritam
There was no way that this Esha Deol comeback film was going to be successful at the box office unless it had some stellar music from composer Pritam. However, the album just like the film was dated and it seemed it seemed as if Pritam had given little effort into the soundtrack. This album was disappointing because Pritam was coming off the super success of 'Ready' which is one of the best albums of this year and because Esha Deol and Pritam had the mega-hit 'Dhoom Machale' together.
#4 Thank You - Pritam
'Thank You' had the names Anees Bazmi, Akshay Kumar, and Pritam tagged to the film and one expected great songs from the combination especially since Anees-Akshay-Pritam had 'Singh Is Kinng' together which had super hit songs most notable 'Tero Ore'. However this album was lackluster with only the remake of 'Pyaar Do Pyaar Lo' making a decent listen. 'Razia' was supposed to follow the trend of Munni and Sheila but that was also a dud. Overall, the album failed to relive the success or acclaim of 'Singh is Kinng' and that is why it is a disappointment.
#3 Always Kabhi Kabhi - Pritam
Yes another Pritam album I know you're surprised and no I'm not a Pritam hater. 'Always Kabhi Kabhi' had massive hype going for the album since it was a Shahrukh Khan Production and Shahrukh himself was performing in an item song for the film and since Pritam was the music director. But when the album was released I was shocked that this was from Shahrukh's Production house. Only 'School Ke Din' had caught my attention while the other songs tried way too hard to be hip and peppy namely 'Undi the Condi' and 'Better Not Mess with Me'. Shahrukh-Pritam have gotten together for 'Billu' in the past and that album had hit after hit but this was a big miss for the combination.
#2 Rascals - Vishal-Shekar
David Dhawan and Vishal-Shekhar has had many great hits and definitely know a thing or two about music but their collaboration proved to be a failure since only 'Tik Tuk' became popular even though it was immensely mediocre. The other songs are not worth mentioning as they were uninspiring and tried too hard in being massy.
#1 Game - Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy
Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Excel Entertainment have created massive hits like 'Dil Chahta Hai' and 'Don' but with 'Game' they have failed to give one good song. The title song lacked musicality, 'Mehki Mehki' failed to connect with listeners and viewers, and 'Maine Yeh Kab Socha Na' lacked the sweetness for a love song. Even the promotional song 'Kaun Hai Ajnabi' sounded like a song we've all heard before and failed to spark interest for the album or the film.
