Joker - Music Review

Music by: G.V. Prakash Kumar and Gaurav Dagaonkar

Kafirana is the item song of the film which follows a very rural desi approach in its composition. The song is catchy because of the lyrics and the cacophony of flutes. Sunidhi Chauhan gives a standard deliverance to the song which is acceptable.

Jugnu has Udit Narayan for the first time in a long time delivering a solo song. He really doesn't get a chance to be appreciated in this song as the tune is lacking of raising suspense or drama. The flute solo is very good along with the background chorus if only the song was composed to showcase Udit more.

Sing Raja's flute beginning is good but once the hip-hop beats are added the song becomes a mess. Daler sounds like he's screaming and Sonu is too autotuned. I could see this song becoming popular if picturized well but as a composition it's not good.

Yeh Joker chants from Sonu Nigam is the redeeming quality of the track. The beating of sticks sounds crucial to a scene in the movie but doesn't work for a standalone track in the album. Shweta Pandit is lackluster.

Overall, Kafirana is the only song worth downloading from JOKER the rest you can enjoy from watching the movie if you so choose to watch the film.

Kafirana - Sunidhi Chauhan, Adarsh Shinde 7/10
Jugnu - Udit Narayan 5/10
Sing Raja - Daler Mehndi, Sonu Kakkar 3/10
Yeh Joker - Sonu Nigam, Shweta Pandit 5/10

Overall: 5.0/10
